The NZ AI Community
// The fine print, in plain English

Privacy policy

We're a non-commercial community, not a business with a sales pipeline. We collect as little as we can, we never sell or trade your information, and we tell you plainly what we do hold. Last updated 5 July 2026.

Who we are

The NZ AI Community (aicommunity.nz) is a volunteer-run, 100% non-commercial, vendor-agnostic community for people interested in AI in Aotearoa. Questions about this policy or your data? Email kiaora@aicommunity.nz.

What we collect, and why

  • Your email address — only if you subscribe. When you sign up for The 6 O'Clock A.I. News, we store your email address to send you the newsletter. We use double opt-in (you confirm via a link we email you), and every newsletter carries a one-click unsubscribe link. That's the only thing we do with it.
  • Anti-spam check. The signup form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell humans from bots. It's a privacy-friendly check that doesn't track you across the web or serve ads.
  • Basic visit data. Like most sites, our host records basic page-view information — the page you viewed, the time, and an approximate location derived from your IP address by our host (Cloudflare). We use this only for our own aggregate understanding of how the site is used. We don't run advertising cookies, and we don't use third-party analytics or cross-site trackers.

What we never do

  • We never sell, rent, or trade your data. To anyone. Ever.
  • We don't run ad networks or share your details with advertisers.
  • We don't track you across other websites.

Who we rely on

To run the site we use a small number of trusted providers, each with their own privacy terms:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, the newsletter delivery, and the Turnstile anti-spam check (their policy).
  • Discord — if you choose to join our community server, your use of Discord is covered byDiscord's policy.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe any time using the link in the footer of any newsletter.
  • Access or delete what we hold about you — emailkiaora@aicommunity.nz and we'll sort it out.

Cookies

We don't set advertising or tracking cookies. Our host may set a small number of cookies strictly needed for security and to keep the site working.

Changes

If we update this policy we'll change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the site.

Kua pau — that's the lot. Anything unclear? Flick us an email.
